While figuring out what crafts I wanted to try out for our retro theme I realized I was being pulled towards making things that involved embroidery floss. Seeing my theme within a theme I've decided Sundays around here for the month of November would involve a craft with embroidery floss.
The first up is a simple and clever way to give your letters a bit more personal touch. Blogger Leigh-Ann from Freckled Nest has a great
tutorial on how to hand stitch saying and designs onto cards.

| I started simple with this 'hello' card. |
 |
| I then tried a longer saying, 'hey there!'. I would make this a little bigger next time as I worry the e's and r's are a bit tough to read. |
 |
With each card I started to add a bit more. Here I wrote, 'Happy Fall' and a design.

My favorite is by far this robot picture. It was just as easy as writing out letters and clearly shows your own imagination is all that limits you in making cards like this. |

oh man, you know who would love the robots ;-) great idea jess!
ReplyDeleteyay robots! thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I bookmarked that tutorial a few weeks ago but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet.
ReplyDeleteLast year I made a hand-stitched whale card: http://www.flickr.com/photos/drovethesnakes/5237273130/ It was my first time stitching on paper and I learned a bunch. Looking forward to improving on this year's cards!
Super cute!
